Lieutenant General Guillaume Boivin assumed command of SAG-U and NSATU from Curtis Buzzard. The US assured that the reorganization would not affect the volume of support for Ukraine.

Command was transferred in the U.S.-led Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U) and NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), but the U.S. side assured that "the reorganization will not affect the scope of U.S. support for Ukraine," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Wednesday, UNN writes.

"The command of the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U) and NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) was transferred, during which Lieutenant General Guillaume Beaurpere officially assumed command from Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard," the statement said.

A military representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to NSATU and SAG-U was present at the ceremony, it said.

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth ordered the reorganization of SAG-U and the redistribution of functions among its components and NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine. He tasked the United States European Command (USEUCOM) with coordinating the process.

As the U.S. side emphasizes, the reorganization will not affect the scope of U.S. support for Ukraine. The redistribution of functions is intended to increase the functional efficiency and effectiveness of security assistance to Ukraine, transfer leadership of key mission areas to the allies, and free up U.S. resources for other global priorities. These changes reflect Europe's leading role in supporting Ukraine's defense over the past year — against the backdrop of Ukraine's steadfast and effective defense

- the General Staff noted.

"The allies have proven that they can take on a leading role in supporting Ukraine's defense. SAG-U was conceived as a temporary command structure. Its transformation builds on the progress already achieved, helping to create the conditions for lasting peace in Ukraine," said Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Alexus Grynkewich.

During its three and a half years of existence, SAG-U, according to the data provided, delivered more than $2 billion in security assistance and interacted with numerous allied and partner countries, helping expand their support for Ukraine.

"The Military Representation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to NSATU and SAG-U continues to intensify efforts to deepen cooperation with NSATU and SAG-U, as well as with other partner structures, to ensure sustained and effective support for Ukraine's defense capabilities," the General Staff stated.
