The Security Service detained eight more Russian agents who, on the enemy's orders, registered Starlink satellite terminals for the armed groups of the aggressor country. This was reported by the SBU, writes UNN.
As the investigation established, the suspects turned out to be residents of various regions of Ukraine aged 18 to 44, who came to the attention of Russian intelligence officers in Telegram channels for finding "easy money"
Thus, in the Rivne region, two mobilized servicemen were detained who had unauthorizedly left their military unit and then collaborated with the enemy.
After recruitment, both deserters first registered Starlinks in their own names and transferred the relevant details to handlers from Russia.
After that, the agents received instructions from Russian intelligence officers to involve as many people as possible in the illegal verification of terminals.
To do this, both perpetrators used the passport data of at least 14 of their acquaintances under false pretenses.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, two suspects were detained who had previous convictions for theft and robbery.
According to SBU counterintelligence data, the criminals first registered Starlinks in their own names and transferred the necessary details to a handler from Russia, and then involved another 14 individuals in the illegal registration of terminals.
In Volyn, an 18-year-old resident of the regional center was exposed, who registered a Starlink in his own name and gave access to the Russians, and then involved seven more acquaintances who illegally activated satellite systems for Russia.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators from the Security Service notified the detainees of suspicion in accordance with the crimes committed under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- Part 1 of Art. 111-2 (aiding the aggressor state);
- Part 4 of Art. 408 (desertion).
The perpetrators face from 10 years to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk and Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Offices, as well as the Rivne Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region.
