Russia has nearly completed construction of a new embankment dam across the Chongar Strait near the Chongar Bridge, which was damaged as a result of strikes by Ukraine's Defense Forces. This is evidenced by satellite images taken between June 14 and 29, reports Radio Svoboda, UNN reports.
Details
According to the publication, after the strike on June 10, which damaged the main road bridge, the occupation authorities temporarily organized a pontoon crossing. However, on June 13, Ukrainian military struck it as well, along with the checkpoint for exiting occupied Crimea located to the south.
After this, the Russian side began construction of an embankment crossing across the Chongar Strait. According to new satellite images, the work is in its final stage.
The Chongar Bridge is one of the key transport arteries connecting temporarily occupied Crimea with the captured part of Kherson region.
As Radio Svoboda notes, Ukraine continues its campaign to reduce the logistical capabilities of Russian troops in the occupied territories. For this purpose, strikes are regularly carried out on bridges and transport infrastructure that provide connections between Crimea, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
According to the publication, the consequences of these strikes have been problems with fuel supply on the occupied peninsula, as well as a significant complication of the resort season in Crimea.
