The Russian foundation "Helping Ours" facilitated the deportation of 39 Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied Luhansk region to a medical facility in the Moscow region controlled by the Russian government. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), according to UNN.

Details

It is noted that Russian-controlled media in Donbas reported that 39 children from the occupied Rubizhne, Kreminna, Lysychansk and Svatove went for "treatment" to the "Klyazma" sanatorium near Moscow. At the same time, some of the children went with their mothers.

Medical specialists from the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia will examine and treat Ukrainian children to help them "recover from difficult life situations"

- the article says.

It is reported that since 2022, Russia has deported more than 1,200 Ukrainians, including children, from the temporarily occupied Luhansk and Donetsk regions to the Klyazma sanatorium.

Russia has often used the guise of medical or psychological treatment to deport Ukrainian children to Russia, but even the deportation of children for medical reasons is contrary to the requirements of international law regarding Russia as an occupying power,

- claim in ISW.

They point out that Rubizhne, Kreminna, Lysychansk and Svatove are within 15 kilometers of the front line in Ukraine, therefore Russia is technically legally obliged to facilitate the transfer of children back to Ukrainian-controlled territory if they need immediate medical assistance.

"Instead, Russia deported these children more than 700 kilometers from their homes in non-essential circumstances and provided no clear guarantees of their return to Ukraine," the analysts summarize.

Let us remind you

A few days ago, Ukraine managed to return 11 more Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories and the territory of the Russian Federation. Among those rescued are two brothers, 10 and 12 years old, whose father died after being tortured for his pro-Ukrainian position.
