In an interview on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Yeşilgöz-Zegerius said she would urge other countries to help Ukraine, but stressed that the Netherlands has already done everything it could.
The Netherlands no longer has the capacity because we have already done so much
When asked about new requests for missiles for Patriot systems, Yeşilgöz-Zegerius stated: "We have reached our limit."
As the publication notes, in the fourth year of Russia's full-scale military invasion, Kyiv is finding it increasingly difficult to intercept Russian ballistic missiles and is in dire need of more interceptor missiles. Ahead of this week's NATO summit in Ankara, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to allies to provide additional interceptors from their stockpiles.
The Netherlands has already spent 9.1 billion euros ($10.4 billion) on military support for Ukraine and has also planned another 11.6 billion euros in expenditures. In addition, the country has committed 1 billion euros to the so-called PURL program, under which European allies pay for the procurement of American-made weapons for Ukraine.
