Ukraine is actively creating "protected spaces" for physical protection, especially in educational institutions. These spaces are designed to protect against indirect effects of munitions by reducing the impact of excessive pressure and debris. Deputy Interior Minister Leonid Tymchenko explains that such spaces are arranged in basements, basements and on the first floors, in particular by using gabions and metal shutters. He told about this during a telethon, a correspondent of UNN reports.
"Protected space" - is a room for physical protection. They are designed to protect against indirect effects of munitions by reducing the impact of excessive pressure, air shock waves and its fragments
He said that it is recommended to choose basements and basements, as well as ground floors as the location of protected spaces. According to preliminary calculations, the size of the room should be 1.2 square meters per child.
We are talking about three options. Now we have proposed a quick mechanism for equipping the first floors of educational institutions with gabions and metal shutters, which are quick to install and have a moderate cost
Mr. Tymchenko emphasized that protected spaces are not subject to civil defense, as they can only partially replace full-fledged shelters. He explained that not all educational institutions have shelters, as this was not foreseen during the design and construction of these premises.
Today, many educational institutions have protected spaces. First of all, the state must create safe conditions in communities with a satisfactory or moderate level of security. We started with schools, because children should receive a quality education
Special commissions will be set up in regional military administrations to inspect protected spaces, which will also include SES employees.
Optional
On August 13, the Government approved a resolution on the Procedure for Implementing a Pilot Project to Create Protected Spaces (Physical Protection Facilities) in Buildings and Facilities of Educational Institutions.
Recall
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, more than 200 schools have been destroyed and more than 1,600 secondary education institutions have been partially destroyed as a result of enemy attacks. Many students were forced to study remotely. However, preparations for the new school year have not been canceled, and despite the difficult situation, Ukraine continues to restore damaged schools and even build new ones.
