On January 28, 2026, Velychko was involved in a road accident in Kirovohrad region. The incident occurred around 4:00 PM amidst unfavorable weather conditions.
The official was driving his Toyota Camry car. He was traveling in the direction of Holovanivsk village on the R-06 highway connecting "Mykolaiv – Blahovishchenske."
At some point, the car veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a Renault Megane. Its driver, a 40-year-old man, died at the scene from his injuries. A 49-year-old female passenger was injured. The woman was hospitalized in the nearest hospital.
