The European Investment Bank has announced the opening of a new EIB regional office for Eastern Europe in Kyiv. This is reported by the EIB press service, UNN reports.

On November 27, EIB President Werner Hoyer and Vice President Teresa Cervinska visit Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and other government officials, as well as to open the EIB's regional office in Eastern Europe with the participation of EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova and representatives of Ukrainian ministries

It is noted that the new regional office will provide enhanced support to Ukraine and Eastern Europe in general, cooperating and coordinating with the EIB offices in Moldova and the South Caucasus (Tbilisi, Georgia).

At the same time, EIB Vice President Teresa Cervinska, who is responsible for the bank's operations in Ukraine, said that the EIB has significantly increased its activity in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian war, providing 1.7 billion euros of emergency assistance with the support of the European Commission.

The European Investment Bank is one of the largest lenders to Ukraine. Today, the EIB's portfolio of projects with the Ukrainian public, municipal, and business sectors is worth more than €7.3 billion. The EU bank also provided a €4 billion credit line to support the integration of refugees from Ukraine in the EU.
