The court has chosen a preventive measure for the BMW driver who, in a fatal accident, hit a 17-year-old cyclist — 60 days in custody without the right to bail, reports UNN with reference to the National Police and the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office.
At the request of investigators and juvenile prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court arrested for a period of 60 days the driver suspected of committing a fatal accident on the Boryspil Highway.

Police investigators detained the 27-year-old BMW driver directly at the scene of the accident in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and notified him of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of road traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in the death of the victim. The sanction of the article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
Context
The accident occurred on July 18 at approximately 3:25 p.m. on the Boryspil Highway. According to preliminary data, the driver of a BMW 5, while overtaking a truck on the right, drove onto the shoulder, where he hit two cyclists traveling in the same direction.
As a result of the accident, a 17-year-old first-year student of the Boryspil Vocational School, who was engaged in cycling with his father, died. His father sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized at the Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Hospital.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
