As of yesterday, July 3, the Czech Republic does not recognize non-biometric passports of the Russian Federation. Thus, Russian citizens with such passports will not be able to legally stay in the Czech Republic. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Czech Foreign Ministry.
Details
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky explained that the decision was made in view of the security situation to avoid possible sabotage by Russians.
Security is a priority for our government. We will not wait for another sabotage. Everyone who wants to stay in our country must prove their trustworthiness. And in the case of the Russians, a passport with non-biometric data, which the Vrbjetice murderers, in particular, came with, will no longer be enough
Addendum
According to iDNES , Mariana Vernerova from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' communication department explained that non-biometric passports are much easier to modify and fake.
If a Russian citizen shows a non-biometric passport in the Czech Republic, he or she is staying here illegally, and the question of what to do with him or her is being decided
The publication noted that the Czech Republic informed about its decision at a meeting of the competent EU body and called on other states to take the same measures.
Recall
The Czech Republic is looking for a general of Russian military intelligence for involvement in explosions at weapons depots in 2014.
