In addition, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said that this decision was made due to a protest by Ukrainians near the David H. Koch Ballet Theater in the city.

The Ukrainian diplomat also posted a number of photos from Ukrainian protests near the ballet theater.
The protest of the Ukrainian diaspora took place on April 19 in the form of a performance. Ukrainian women came dressed in bloody ballet tutus.
Other protesters were carrying posters with photos of Ukrainian artists killed by russia, as well as pictures of russian ballerinas who took part in a photo shoot with the russian military.
