Sweden today recorded the coldest temperature in the the last 25 years. Northern Europe is currently experiencing frost. Sometimes the temperature drops below minus 40°. This was reported by the meteorological institute SMHI, reports UNN.

On January 2, the lowest temperature in Sweden was -41.6°. The last time the temperature in Sweden was below -40° was on December 6-7, 2021. At the same time. the coldest temperature in Sweden this century was -44.0° in Storbå in northern Dalarna on February 4, 2001. 

In the neighboring country of Finland, temperatures are also quite low temperatures. In Lapland, the temperature is now well below minus 40 degrees. In the small town of Kikkijokk, minus 43.6° was measured.
