The procedure of Ukraine's accession to NATO will continue after the end of the conflict between Kyiv and Moscow, said the head of the press service of the US State Department Matthew Miller at a regular briefing, reports UNN.

Miller added that the alliance is continuing negotiations on Ukraine.
On April 8, US Permanent Representative to NATO Julian Smith said that Ukraine will become a member of the alliance "when the conditions are met, when the allies agree." Kyiv will join NATO after the end of hostilities, Smith emphasized.
Context
Ukraine applied to join NATO in the fall of 2022. The aspiration to join the alliance is enshrined in the Ukrainian Constitution.
In February 2024, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the country would receive an invitation to join NATO when it fulfills the necessary conditions. According to him, Kyiv is closer to membership "than ever before.
