During the night of another Russian attack on the capital, four babies were born at the Kyiv Perinatal Center during the air raid alert, reports UNN.
The births took place in the shelters of the Perinatal Center's branches. Doctors say that, unfortunately, this has become a routine matter, but patients' lives are above all else. Therefore, when the alarm sounds, everyone moves to bomb shelters, where delivery rooms and operating rooms are set up, and there are places for mothers with newborns to stay.
"While the enemy tries to take away our future, we hold our front.
Giving birth to the sounds of explosions is the new reality for our Ukrainian mothers. And moving women in labor to shelters right during the process, doing everything possible and impossible — this is already our daily routine. Despite everything, new life must appear in safety. We are proud of our mothers and our team," wrote obstetrician-gynecologist Nataliia Kolesnyk on her Instagram page.
During the night of the previous massive attack on the capital (from July 1 to July 2), 8 babies were born in the shelters of the Perinatal Center during the air raid alert. Among them was a boy named Demian. The delivery was attended by obstetrician-gynecologist Violeta Cherneha.
The doctor said that contractions began before the start of the air raid alert in the capital, and the woman in labor had time to receive pain relief. But when the air threat spread to Kyiv, the woman needed to be moved to a shelter.
"I thank our entire team — they, as always, acted as needed. Because the girl, after pain relief, could not go down on her own," Cherneha said.
