On Friday, he spoke at an evening ceremony marking the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, a public holiday in Slovakia. Fico, who was being treated after being shot four times at close range, stood on a podium near the ruins of the castle, which is more than 11 centuries old.
In his speech, he spoke out against progressive ideologies and supported Hungarian leader Viktor Orban's visit to moscow. It was his first public appearance since the assassination attempt in mid-May.
