shoigu: russia plans to increase the number of armed forces to 1.5 million

According to Defense Minister Shoigu, Russia plans to increase the size of its armed forces to 1.5 million, while their number is already 1.15 million.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the number of Russian armed forces  is planned to be increased to 1.5 million people. He said this at an expanded meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry, UNN reports.

In response to external threats, the size of the Russian armed forces will be further increased to 1,500,000 military personnel

- said Shoigu.

Also, according to him, all plans for manning the army and navy by 2023 have allegedly been fully implemented by Russia, with their number having been brought to 1,150,000 servicemen

 Speaking about plans for 2024, Shoigu said that they plan to increase the number of contract soldiers, taking into account the recruitment of new formations, to 745,000.
