Two people were killed. Among them was Artem Kostyrya, head of the Kharkiv District Department of the State Emergency Service in Kharkiv Oblast.

Five railroad workers were injured: a driver, a station manager, a station duty officer, a senior track master, and a train driver. Other railroad workers were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds and concussion, and two more were treated on the spot.
