The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has officially approved at least 12 prayers about war. This once again confirms that the ROC is consistently used by the Kremlin to sacralize aggression against Ukraine and provide it with a "spiritual" justification. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (CCD), reports UNN.

It is noted that before the full-scale invasion, the rhetoric of the ROC was veiled, with calls "for peace," but since 2022, as Russian researchers point out, the militarization of church texts has become completely open.
The key became the mandatory prayer "for Holy Rus'," which contains a request for victory for the Russian Federation. It is read in every ROC church, and for refusing to recite this text, priests can even be defrocked. In addition, the Synod of the ROC churns out new texts for soldiers, their mothers, and so on. At the front, priests also distribute unofficial prayers, in particular about "Archistrategos Vladimir," in which they equate Putin with the Archangel Michael
They add that the systematic imposition of Z-prayers clearly demonstrates that the ROC is exclusively a propaganda institution of the Kremlin, and its activities have nothing to do with spirituality or Christian ethics.
Reminder
The head of the ROC, Kirill, published a book where he claims that the earthly purpose of Russians is "to be warriors of the Lord."
