Russian occupiers deliberately attack substations that are critical for Operation. Their goal is to deprive Ukraine of nuclear generation. Thanks to the coordinated actions of power engineers and nuclear engineers, a catastrophic scenario can be avoided. This was announced by Deputy Energy Minister Mykola Kolesnik on the air of the telethon, the correspondent of UNN reports .

When asked whether nuclear power plants have reduced electricity production due to the Russian strike and when nuclear power plants can return to their planned level, Kolesnik said::

We can say in this situation that, of course, during the preparation for winter, the central and local authorities have actually done quite a lot to provide critical infrastructure facilities, key substations, so that the necessary actions are taken.

Kolesnik noted that the IAEA mission  visited key substations for separate negotiations in order to protect as much as possible from enemy attacks those objects that affect the stability of nuclear power plants, so today there is a set of measures that are systematically taken, realizing that there is a potential shelling.

"We understand that the enemy is deliberately attacking substations that are critical for Operation. Their goal in this case is to deprive us of nuclear generation, which is extremely important for us, and attacks on critical operation of nuclear power plants and critical substations actually pose a threat to radiation safety. The IAEA mission is designed to establish these clear red lines to prevent such attacks," Kolesnik said.

He noted that thanks to the coordinated actions of power engineers and nuclear scientists, a catastrophic scenario can be avoided, because they quickly respond to the situation and radiation safety at all controlled nuclear power plants in Ukraine is currently within the normal range.

context

On November 29, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Raphael Grossi, reported that Khmelnitsky, Rivne and South Ukrainian nuclear power plants were preemptively reduced during a missile and drone attack by the Russian Federation on Thursday morning, and one of the power units of the Rivne Plant was disconnected from the grid.

Greenpeace of Central and Eastern Europe has criticized The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for its lack of active action in ensuring the protection of Ukrainian nuclear power plants during Russian missile attacks.
