After April 11, 2024, when the Russians destroyed the Trypillia TPP in Kyiv region with a missile strike, social media criticized Oleksandr Kubrakov and Mustafa Nayem for spending 45.7 billion UAH on physical protection of power plants and substations in 2023. In particular, UAH 36 billion was allocated to protect Ukrenergo, and an additional UAH 9.7 billion was spent on protecting energy infrastructure.
In particular, at the Dialogues on Ukraine's Recovery event, Mustafa Nayyem , head of the Infrastructure Agency, spoke about the historic defense project: "There will be no analogues in the world of such structures that we are building in Ukraine. I'm talking about substations that will be protected from missile attacks.
However, after several recent attacks, 100% of Centrenergo's generation and 80% of DTEK's generation were destroyed. Russian attacks on power substations are ongoing in various regions of Ukraine.
