Details
According to the investigation, the man, who had been discharged from service for health reasons, learned of a serviceman's intention to transfer to one of the units in the Chernivtsi region. Claiming to have influential connections among the military command, he promised to facilitate a transfer to a rear unit for 6,000 USD. To be more convincing, the suspect introduced himself as a "brigadier general."
During a meeting near a gas station, he received 4,000 USD and was detained by law enforcement officers.
Currently, the man is charged under Part 3 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court has ordered a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of bail. Efforts to identify other individuals who may be involved in the illegal scheme are ongoing.
