President of Poland Karol Nawrocki, on the Polish Day of Remembrance for the Volyn tragedy on July 11, declared his intention to legislatively ban the red-and-black flag of the OUN-UPA in Poland, reports UNN citing PAP.
The President of Poland, the publication writes, "stated that the red-and-black flag of the UPA, in his opinion, refers to the Nazi concept of Blut und Boden ('blood and soil')."
We do not want to see this red-and-black flag in Poland, and I will do everything to ensure it is not here. I believe that the Polish parliament will pass the appropriate law
As indicated, it concerns the presidential bill on amendments to the laws on the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland – the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation and the Criminal Code of the country.
The Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance has already reacted to the submission by Polish President Karol Nawrocki to the Polish Sejm of a bill on criminal prosecution for the so-called "Bandera ideology," noting that it shares the position of Ukrainian historians regarding disagreement with this.
