Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski suggested spending the frozen Russian assets on preventing the consequences of Russian aggression and protecting Ukraine, rather than rebuilding it, as the aggressor must pay for its actions.

On Monday in Brussels, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that the frozen Russian assets should be spent on preventing the consequences of aggression and on protecting Ukraine, not on its restoration. He expressed this opinion to the Polish edition of PAP after the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, UNN reports.

Personally, I would like to go further. I believe that the aggressor should pay for the consequences of its aggression. Since we already know that Russia will not receive this money until it pays reparations to Ukraine, it is better to spend it on preventing the consequences of aggression, on protecting Ukraine, not just on rebuilding it.

- Radoslav Sikorsky emphasized.

Details

Sikorsky also said that there is already a political decision to direct interest from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. However, this has not yet been legally agreed upon.

We have received a political decision, although not yet a legal one, that the interest from the capital (Russian capital that is frozen in the West - ed.) will be used in favor of Ukraine.

- said the Polish Foreign Minister.

He also welcomed the allocation of an additional 5 billion euros to the European Peace Facility (EPF). the funds will be used exclusively to support Ukraine.

This means that what countries give to Ukraine will be returned, and those who do not give to Ukraine will make payments (to the EPF). This means that no one in Europe - except for one country (Hungary - ed.) - will give.

- Sikorsky summarized.
