The demonstrators are opposed, in particular, to President Mikheil Kavelashvili, whose legitimacy is not recognized by the fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, the opposition, and some of the country's international partners.

The security forces began detentions and opened traffic on Rustaveli Avenue. Earlier, the police called on the protesters to move to the sidewalk to avoid blocking the road.

During the clashes, one of the demonstrators was injured and received first aid. The action continues outside the roadway. The number of detainees is still unknown.
