Poland has scrambled fighter jets amid Russia's missile and drone attack on Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command announced on Friday, UNN reports.
Due to the activity of long-range Russian air forces striking Ukrainian territory, military aircraft have begun operating in our airspace. In accordance with current procedures, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command has activated the necessary forces and assets at its disposal. Duty fighters have been scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest level of combat readiness.
These actions, as stated, "are preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the security and protection of airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to threatened zones."
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, as noted, is monitoring the current situation, and its subordinate forces and assets remain ready for immediate response.
