In particular, according to intelligence, last year only five of the 41 Russian films produced with state support recouped their costs, amounting to 12%, while the remaining 36 films, equivalent to 88%, generated nothing but losses. At the same time, in 2024, 78% of the films were unprofitable.
Last year, the Russian Ministry of Culture and the "Cinema Fund" supported 27 films with a "patriotic" propaganda focus in russia, including 12 films about the war. Most of them were not even seen by viewers, so the "cultural code" and value-based approach were developed and broadcast to empty theaters. At the same time, the budget of the "Cinema Fund" increased from 10.2 to 10.4 billion rubles compared with the previous year, while the State Duma is considering the possibility of fully funding Russian animation from the state budget
Thus, Russian cinema, with its "constant budget 'embezzlement' and odious propaganda, has already thoroughly bored Russians." In the first half of the current year, the situation remained unprofitable: only eight of 130 Russian films recouped their costs, while 94% of the films failed to cover expenses. According to intelligence, the losses are measured in tens of billions of rubles.
