George Kurtz, co-founder and CEO of the cybersecurity company CrowdStrike , has officially stated that the problem that caused the global IT failure on July 19 was found in a Windows software update. He wrote about this in the social network X, reports UNN.
CrowdStrike is actively working with customers affected by the defect found in a single Windows content update. Mac and Linux hosts are not affected. This is not a security incident or cyberattack
According to him, the problem has already been identified, isolated and fixed.

Today, on July 19, the entire world faced a global IT outage that affected communications, emergency services, flights, and financial institutions. According to media reports, the cause was problems with the interaction between Crowdstrike antivirus and Windows.
Experts from the State Special Communications Service advise to use CrowdStrike's instructions to quickly resolve this issue:
- Boot Windows in Safe Mode or Windows Recovery;
- Go to the directory C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike;
- Find the file named “C-00000291*.sys” and delete it;
- Restart your computer or server.
