Details
According to the newspaper, the court today determined the order in which the case will be considered. First, the interrogation of the victim, then the interrogation of witnesses, then the examination of evidence and documents, and finally the interrogation of the suspect.
“The father of the deceased Maksym, Oleksandr Materukhin, spoke in court on behalf of the injured party. He reiterated that the family does not need material compensation from the suspect in the murder of his son. Instead, they will demand the most severe punishment,” the newspaper notes.
The student's father also stated that there was no apology from the suspect in Maksym's murder to the family.
“Why do we need something from the criminal? The position is this: we need him to go to jail. We don't need anything, no money. The next day, after my son was killed, I received a message from Artem's mother. “Good afternoon! I am Artem's mother. We have a common grief...”. What is our common grief? Your son is sitting here, combed and dressed... No one has contacted us,” Materukhin said.
According to the father, the schoolboy's mother was the first to hear about the tragedy on the funicular, and she received a call from a witness that evening saying: “Come. Maxim is not well. He was on the cable car.” When the woman asked what was wrong with her son, she was told that his “throat was cut.
“The wife did not have time to get to the crime scene and said that he (Maksym - ed.) had died,” the victim's father said during the hearing.
At the beginning of the hearing, the prosecutor announced the circumstances of the death: on April 7, 2024, at 19:25, Artem Kosov, a parole officer, walked to the platforms through the turnstile of the lower funicular, wearing a dark green jacket, in a state of alcohol and drug intoxication. Moving in the car of the funicular, he swore obscenely, shouted obscene words. He began to use obscene language towards minors, including Materukhin. At approximately 19:36, when the funicular stopped, the suspect did not go to the exit outside the station, but to the lower part of the platform, pushing passengers out, and stopped at the lower door.
“Realizing his criminal intent, Kosov, in the presence of a large number of people, including minors, waited until the minor Materukhin came out of the door of the car, grabbed him by the shoulders with his hands and used physical force to throw him towards the glass windows of the station building,” the prosecutor said.
She added that Maksym Materukhin fell on the glass, sustaining cut wounds to his face and frontal bone, the front and side of his neck, and a laryngeal transection, which resulted in his death.
Artem Kosov does not admit his guilt.
“On August 13, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court is to interrogate 7 witnesses in the case of the murder of Maksym Materukhin at the station of the capital's funicular,” the newspaper notes.
