More than a quarter of the 197 engagements on the front line since the beginning of the day occurred in three directions — Kostiantynivka, South Slobozhanske and Pokrovsk, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in its 10 p.m. situation report of August 22, UNN writes.
A total of 197 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of this day
The enemy launched two missile strikes using six missiles, carried out 68 airstrikes, and dropped 241 guided aerial bombs. In addition, it deployed 7,444 kamikaze drones to strike targets and carried out 2,353 shellings of populated areas and our troops’ positions.
Situation by direction
In the North Slobozhanske and Kursk directions, the Defense Forces successfully repelled 10 enemy attacks. In addition, the enemy carried out one airstrike using three guided aerial bombs and shelled our troops’ positions and populated areas 48 times, including three times with multiple-launch rocket systems.
During the day, in the South Slobozhanske direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our units 17 times near Izbytske, Okhrimivka and Volokhivka; one more engagement is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy carried out two assaults on the positions of the Defense Forces today in the direction of the settlement of Zahryzove.
Seven attempts by the invaders to advance were repelled in the Lyman direction in the areas of Shyikivka, Kopanky, Novoselivka, Drobysheve and Lyman.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Defense Forces successfully stopped five attempts by the invaders to advance near Kryva Luka, Zakitne, Mykolaivka, Rai-Oleksandrivka and Ozerne.
Two enemy assaults were recorded in the Kramatorsk direction in the areas of Yurkivka and Tykhonivka.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the Defense Forces repelled 22 enemy assaults near Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Mykolaipillia, Novoselivka and Stepanivka.
A total of 15 attacks were repelled in the Pokrovsk direction. The occupiers attempted to advance in the areas of the settlements of Shakhove, Kucheriv Yar, Novyi Donbas, Shevchenko, Bilytske, Myrne, Serhiivka, Udachne and Molodetske. Two engagements are ongoing.
According to preliminary estimates, 29 occupiers were eliminated and 16 wounded here today; two artillery systems, four vehicles, two pieces of special equipment, one unmanned aerial vehicle control post and 27 enemy shelters were destroyed. Four hundred unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or suppressed.
Our defenders repelled three attacks by the occupiers in the Oleksandrivka direction in the areas of Andriivka-Klevtsove and Nechaivka.
Six attacks by the occupiers were recorded in the Huliai-Polе direction in the areas of the settlements of Vozdvyzhivka, Rivne, Dobropillia, Dolynka and Verkhnia Tersa; one attack is ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, our defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the area of Pavlivka.
No enemy assault operations were recorded in the Dnipro direction today.
There were no significant changes in the situation in the other directions.
