Due to prolonged power outages, mobile operators in Ukraine have been ordered to ensure the availability of mobile services for 10 hours in the absence of electricity. This is stated in the order of the State Special Communication Service, UNN reports.

Details

It is noted that by September 1 of this year, mobile operators must ensure that 100% of physical infrastructure facilities that serve as international switching centers are operational for at least 72 hours in the event of a power outage.

The same applies to special services nodes that are connected to the operational dispatch centers operating under the numbers 101, 102, 103, 104, and 112.  All of them must have power generator sets or be equipped with a replaceable battery pack for the first 72 hours.

In addition, during this year, mobile operators must increase capacity to ensure uninterrupted mobile communications for 10 hours in the event of a power outage.

The work should begin this year, as by December 1, 2024, at least 80% of mobile base stations should be able to operate for 10 hours after a power outage.

The deadline for modernization of the equipment is February 2025.
