The French Minister of the Armed Forces is ready to use his legal powers to speed up the production of weapons and ammunition needed by Ukraine, including requisitioning industrial facilities or identifying priority weapons manufacturers.

French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu said he was ready to use his powers to speed up the production of weapons and shells needed by Ukraine, UNN reports, citing Le Monde and Sky News.

These powers may include requisitioning industrial facilities or setting priorities for arms manufacturers.

"For the first time, I do not exclude the use of what the law allows the minister and the general commissioner for armaments, that is, if there was no accounting for production rates and deadlines, to make requisitions if necessary or to use the right to set priorities," Lecornu said during a press conference.

He said: "These questions... are clearly on the table."

Stockpiles and production lines are under particular strain for anti-aircraft missiles and artillery shells, he added.

Addendum

On February 26, at the conclusion of a conference on Ukraine in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron said that sending Western troops to Ukraine should not be ruled out. The statement provoked a reaction from Western allies, some of whom spoke out against such an idea.
