Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company are preparing to produce I Can Only Imagine 2, a sequel to the breakout hit I Can Only Imagine, Variety reports, UNN writes.

The 2018 film grossed over $83 million at the US box office. The sequel will be directed by Brent McCorkle and Andrew Erwin from a script written by McCorkle.
"I Can Only Imagine 2" will continue the inspiring real-life story of Bart Millard, played once again by John Michael Finley. Other returning cast members include Dennis Quaid, who will reprise his role as Arthur, and Trace Adkins, who will return as MercyMe manager Scott Brickell. Milo Ventimiglia joins the cast in a new role as singer/songwriter Tim Timmons.

From 2016 to 2022, Ventimiglia played Jack Pearson in the critically acclaimed NBC drama series This is Us, which had several episodes. He was nominated three times for an Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. He also received a Critic's Choice Award nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Drama Series two years in a row.
Ventimiglia recently starred in the feature film Land of Bad alongside Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth.
