"Drivers make up the largest category of men crossing the border," said Demchenko.
In order for drivers to cross the border, there must be information about them in the Shlyakh system. There must also be relevant orders from government agencies and confirmation of the purpose of the trip.
"Among those 55,000 Ukrainian citizens who were denied border crossing, a significant number are also drivers who cannot confirm the purpose of their trip during border control measures. In other words, it is actually quite common for a driver to arrive at the border and not know where he or she is going or what he or she is transporting. And in some cases, the declared drivers may not even have a driver's license. In this case, citizens are denied entry to the border," added the SBGS spokesman.
