EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas proposed new sanctions after Russia's massive attack on Kyiv. The EU has begun disbursing 6 billion euros from a 90 billion euro loan to strengthen Ukraine's defense.

EU's top diplomat Kaja Kallas responded to another massive attack by the russian federation on Kyiv, announcing a proposal for new sanctions against more organizations supporting the russian military-industrial complex in response to the strikes, writes UNN.

Words of condemnation alone will not stop the attacks on Kyiv. Only constant military support for Ukraine and increasing pressure on moscow can do that

- wrote Kallas on X.

This week, she said, the EU began disbursing 6 billion euros as part of a 90 billion euro loan to strengthen Ukraine's defense.

Today I will propose imposing sanctions against more organizations that support the russian military-industrial complex in response to the strikes. The more moscow attacks civilians, the more sanctions must be imposed

- indicated the EU's top diplomat.

And she emphasized: "We continue to raise the cost until russia understands that it cannot win."

"EU staff in Kyiv are safe. I am deeply grateful to our colleagues on the ground who bravely and selflessly continue their work in the most difficult conditions," she added.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha thanked the EU's top diplomat "for the proposal of additional sanctions against russia immediately after this strike." "This is exactly the approach we called for. Decisive deterrence requires proactive actions," he emphasized on X.

"The latest massive attack by russia on Kyiv once again proves that the kremlin rejects peace and deliberately chooses terror. Every missile and every drone launched against civilians is another reminder that russia understands only the language of force," Sybiha stated.

He expressed gratitude to the EU for advancing the loan to support Ukraine and for its readiness to further increase pressure on russia. "Every euro invested in Ukraine's defense saves lives. Every new sanction raises the cost of russian aggression. Decisive support for Ukraine and increasing pressure on russia – this is the fastest path to comprehensive and lasting peace," the Foreign Minister emphasized.
