Japan imposes sanctions on 57 Russian companies

Japan added 57 Russian, 27 Belarusian and 6 companies from other countries to its sanctions list and banned exports to 494 Russian firms over the invasion of Ukraine.

The Japanese government has imposed new sanctions against 57 Russian and 27 Belarusian companies, France24 reports, UNN writes.

"Tokyo has added 57 companies in Russia and 6 more companies located in the United Arab Emirates, Armenia, Syria and Uzbekistan to its sanctions list," the report says.

Japan also added 27 Belarusian companies to the sanctions list and imposed an export ban on 494 Russian companies.

"Russia has been hit by a wave of sanctions since it sent troops into Ukraine last February, but Kyiv and its allies are calling for tougher action against Moscow.Tokyo has already frozen the assets of Russian individuals and groups and banned the export of goods to Russian military organizations, as well as the export of construction and engineering services," the newspaper adds.
