US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the committee that Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is alive and "increasingly engaged," UNN reports, citing the Guardian.
"I think, given what has happened to many leaders in that system, a public posture is probably not recommended for them domestically," he said.
"But, nonetheless, I think there are signs that he is increasingly engaged at some level, although all of his communications have been in writing and through intermediaries."
