Internazionale Milan became the Serie A champion for the 20th time. The day before, Inter won the derby with AC Milan with a score of 2:1 (1:0). Currently, Inter is 17 points ahead of second-place Milan and thus cannot lose the top spot with five games remaining.

The path to victory for Inter was paved by 36-year-old Francesco Acherbi, who scored the first goal in the 18th minute. Then former Gladbach player Marcus Turam scored his twelfth goal of the Serie A season in the 49th minute, giving the home team the lead. In the 80th minute, AC Milan scored a goal by Fikayo Tomori.
In a tumultuous final phase with three red cards, the visitors managed to hold on to their lead. Denzel Dumfries (Inter) and Theo Hernandez (AC Milan) received red cards after a clash (90.+4), while AC Milan's David Calabria was also sent off after an elbow (90.+7).
