Thanks to MPs, Ukraine may become the only example of legislative encouragement of corruption in a country at war, writes volunteer soldier Vitaliy Gersak on his Facebook page, commenting on the scandalous draft law 11340.
To propose a de facto amnesty for those who should be shot like mad dogs and to have the majority of MPs support this idea is a manifestation of the complete devaluation of their own state. Obviously, the next parliament will have to not only lustrate their shameful predecessors, but also significantly toughen sanctions for corrupt officials. No more plea bargains and lenient preventive measures, no more parole, no more statute of limitations for corruption during the war
According to Gersak, it is also necessary to punish all those who illegally profited during martial law. Economically unjustified increases in the cost of goods and services, unfair business activities to supply the Armed Forces, theft in the defense procurement system, fraud with budget funds and international financial, logistical and humanitarian aid, shadow business in the interests of the enemy, abuse of monopoly power and other similar crimes that harm the state, the army, defense capabilities, honest entrepreneurs and consumers - all of this should not be tolerated.
As previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada approved in the first reading and adopted as a basis draft law No. 11340, which will allow a person to enter into a plea bargain with the investigation and pay off the actual punishment by paying a fine. The draft law provides for a fine as an additional punishment if a suspect or accused of corruption has entered into a plea agreement when such a punishment is not provided for by the sanction of the article.
Amounts of proposed fines:
- for a criminal offense - from UAH 204 thousand to UAH 2.05 million;
- for a minor crime - from UAH 2.05 million to UAH 204 million;
- for a serious crime - from UAH 20.4 million to 102 million;
- for a particularly serious crime - from UAH 102 million to UAH 204 million.
