On Good Friday in Warsaw, a cross standing in front of the Church of St. Maximilian Kolbe caught fire. RMF24 reported this on April 3, writes UNN.

According to eyewitnesses, the cause of the fire could have been candles placed in front of the cross. There were more of them than usual - April 2 marked the 21st anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II.
The cross that caught fire has special historical significance. John Paul II celebrated his first Mass in Poland near it during his pilgrimage on June 2, 1979.
It is noted that the 17-meter cross was wooden inside and covered with sheet metal on the outside.
