In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers detained a 32-year-old man suspected of attempting the premeditated murder of a fellow villager. According to the police, he fired several shots from an automatic weapon at the victim's car, resulting in the driver being wounded. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, writes UNN.
As reported by the victim, a 44-year-old resident of one of the settlements in the Yavoriv district, on July 6 at approximately 7:10 PM, his 32-year-old fellow villager fired several shots at him from an automatic weapon resembling a Kalashnikov rifle. Special forces, criminal investigation operatives, forensic specialists, and employees of other police services of the Lviv region, as well as criminal police operatives, investigators, and employees of other services of the Yavoriv district police department, were involved in solving the crime and detaining the shooter.
Through the measures taken, law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the suspect and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The weapon from which the shots were fired was seized by the police and sent for expert examination.
Under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor's Office, the detainee has been notified of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 15 - Part 1 of Article 115 (Attempted premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of notifying the suspect of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is also being considered.
The maximum punishment facing the suspect is imprisonment for up to fifteen years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are establishing the origin of the weapon.
