In Kyiv region, two officials of social services have been notified of suspicion of official negligence after the death of a 17-year-old girl. According to the investigation, they failed to take necessary measures to protect children from a dysfunctional family. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, writes UNN.
Under the procedural leadership of juvenile prosecutors of the Fastiv District Prosecutor's Office, the head of the city children's services and the director of the social services center have been notified of suspicion
According to the investigation, the officials improperly performed their duties regarding the protection of children from a family that had long been in difficult life circumstances. The mother abused alcohol, failed to fulfill parental duties, and reports of domestic violence were also received.
Despite existing danger signals, the relevant services, according to the investigation, did not ensure proper cooperation and did not timely take measures provided by law. In particular, the children were not registered as being in difficult life circumstances, and during social support, they did not properly respond to new cases of domestic violence and other threats.
On June 16, 2026, a friend of the mother fatally stabbed her 17-year-old daughter with a knife. The man has already been notified of suspicion and is in custody without the right to bail.
After the tragedy, the mother was deprived of parental rights, and the two younger children were removed from the family and placed in specialized institutions.
According to the investigation's conclusions, the officials' untimely response and failure to take measures provided by law are in direct causal connection with the death of the minor. They are charged with official negligence that caused the death of a person.
