Fuel and lubricants entered the water area of Lake Kyrylivske in Kyiv due to a Russian shelling and a fire at one of the capital's enterprises. The pollution was contained, and work to eliminate its consequences is ongoing. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, writes UNN.
Fuel and lubricants entered the water area of Lake Kyrylivske in Kyiv. The leak occurred due to a Russian shelling and subsequent ignition at one of the capital's enterprises, from where petroleum products reached the reservoir through the storm drainage system. Rescuers and chemists of the State Emergency Service installed special booms that reliably blocked all leaks. The fuel slick was isolated; it will not enter other lakes of the cascade.
Currently, active work is underway to collect the substance from the water surface using special equipment and boats. Specialists of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center have already taken all necessary samples for laboratory analysis. SES specialists continue to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.
