The PFM-1 "Petal" anti-personnel fragmentation mine was created in the Soviet Union and is an almost exact copy of the American BLU-43/B "Dragontooth" mine. It was widely used by Soviet troops during the war in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989, and after the collapse of the USSR, in armed conflicts in the post-Soviet space. 

The mine is banned by the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction.
