HAMAS commander al-Haddad was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. He was one of the primary architects of the October 7 attack on Israel.

One of the commanders of Hamas's military wing, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza. A representative of the group confirmed this information to the BBC, reports UNN.

Details

According to the Israeli side, al-Haddad was "one of the architects of the October 7 attack" and was responsible for the "killing, kidnapping, and wounding of thousands of Israeli civilians and military personnel."

Strike on a residential building and a car

As reported by the BBC, citing eyewitnesses, the Israeli military struck the Al-Muataz residential building in the center of Gaza City. According to witnesses, three missiles were fired at the building simultaneously from different directions.

Following this, another strike was carried out on a car leaving the scene of the attack. According to eyewitnesses and local sources, three people were killed.

According to BBC interlocutors, al-Haddad, who was seriously wounded during the first strike, may have been in the car. It is also reported that Hamas members in civilian clothes evacuated the critically injured man through a side exit of the building.

Israel announced the continuation of operations

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel "will continue to act decisively against everyone who participated in the October 7 massacre."

They also accused Hamas of refusing to comply with agreements regarding the disarmament and demilitarization of the Gaza Strip.

Strikes continue despite the truce

The BBC notes that a ceasefire in Gaza has formally been in effect since October 10, but Israel continues to regularly launch strikes on the enclave's territory.

Hamas accuses Israel of violating the terms of the truce and attacking civilians. Israel, in turn, asserts its right to attack members of the group.

According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 72,000 people have died since the start of the war. Of these, 857 died after the ceasefire came into effect.
