Senior diplomat Boris Ruge is set to become the new German Ambassador to Ukraine. This was reported by Bild, according to UNN.

It is noted that the federal government approved his candidacy for this position following a proposal by Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
Ruge is considered an expert in foreign and security policy and currently serves as NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy in Brussels
It is known that prior to his work at the Alliance, Boris Ruge served as Vice-Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Germany’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington, and Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
At the embassy in Kyiv, he will succeed Heiko Thoms, who is expected to move to Madrid. Thoms previously succeeded Martin Jäger, who became the new president of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) last September.
