Consideration of the issue of imposing sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry at hearings in the US Congress gives confidence that they will be introduced soon. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko on the air of the National Telethon, UNN reports.
"In the United States, Congress has always acted as an icebreaker in sanctions, so it is very important that the issue of sanctions in the nuclear energy sector is on the agenda today. This gives us confidence that they will be introduced in the near future," noted Mr. Galushchenko.
On March 12, a House subcommittee held a hearing during which congressmen heard, among other things, a statement by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine on the need to adopt restrictions on Rosatom as soon as possible.
"The nuclear industry is the only source of intellectual export of the Russian energy sector. Everything else is fossil fuels. They export both nuclear fuel and technologies, and build units around the world. Sanctions should complete this process," emphasized Herman Galushchenko.
