PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński stated that Ukraine should not join the EU if it does not renounce the cult of Bandera and the glorification of the UPA. He criticized Kyiv's historical policy and called it a brazen step towards Poland.

The leader of the Polish party "Law and Justice" (PiS), Jarosław Kaczyński, stated that Ukraine should not join the European Union if it does not abandon the honoring of Stepan Bandera, the OUN, and the UPA. He wrote this in a letter to party members, reports Polsat News, as reported by UNN.

Kaczyński emphasized that his political force supported Ukraine after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion and highlighted Poland's contribution to military, diplomatic, and humanitarian aid to Kyiv. At the same time, he sharply criticized Ukraine's current historical policy.

"Law and Justice tells Poles: Ukraine with the cult of Bandera and other criminals, with the glorification of the UPA and OUN, will not join the European Union. If we win the elections, we will certainly not allow this

– Kaczyński stated.

The politician also criticized the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to grant one of the military units an honorary name in honor of the "heroes of the UPA." According to him, this was a "brazen and contemptuous" step towards Poland.

Kaczyński believes that Ukraine must completely abandon its current policy of historical memory if it seeks EU membership.

Ukraine cannot be admitted to the European Union if it does not completely abandon its current course

At the same time, the PiS leader emphasized that his position is not directed against the Ukrainian people.

Not all Ukrainians bear moral responsibility for the crimes of the UPA, Bandera, and others. This responsibility is borne only by those who consider barbaric criminals to be heroes

– Kaczyński wrote.

He also called on members of his party to use all available political means now to counteract, in his words, attempts by Donald Tusk's government to integrate Ukraine into the EU on privileged terms.
