Former director of the Lviv National Opera Tadeusz Eder dies at the age of 80. National Opera Tadeusz Eder has died at the age of 80. He headed the theater for almost 20 years. This UNN reports with reference to the Lviv National Opera on Facebook.
The management and staff of the Lviv National Opera deeply mourn the death of the longtime director of the Lviv National Opera, Tadeusz Eder (1943-2023),
Tadeusz Eder had been heading the theater for almost 20 years. It is reported that under his leadership, the institution developed rapidly and established itself as one of the of the leading positions on the artistic map of Europe:
- the theater was renamed in honor of the famous Ukrainian opera singer Solomiya Krushelnytska as part of a large-scale celebration of the theater's 100th anniversary in 2000;
- initiated and implemented a number of bright creative projects, including commissioning the composition of the opera "Moses to the famous Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skoryk. For the first time in in history, this opera received the support of the Vatican and the blessing of Pope John Paul II. John Paul II;
- Lviv Opera became a member of the prestigious association of European opera houses Opera Europa in 2008;
- three prestigious international opera competitions were held prestigious international competitions of opera singers named after S. Krushelnytska;
- with the the ensemble toured to 29 countries, representing symphonic, chamber and opera performances of Ukraine;
- on his initiative sculptural portraits of famous artists - S. Krushelnytska, M. Meniach - were installed in the Mirror Hall. Krushelnytska, M. Mentsynskyi, O. Myshuga, Y. Voshchak, Y. Lysyk, etc.
It is reported that the parastas will be held on December 18, Monday at 19:00 in St. George's Cathedral
"Farewell - December 19 (Tuesday) from 10:00 at the Lviv National Opera. The funeral rites will begin at 12:00 at Lychakiv Cemetery," the opera informs.
