In Kyiv region, a woman was served with a notice of suspicion for a scheme with a fictitious marriage for men to facilitate illegal border crossing by evaders for $5,000, the regional police department reported on Thursday, UNN reports.

"A 28-year-old resident of Mykolaiv region has developed a criminal scheme to evade mobilization by entering into a fictitious marriage with women with disabilities," the Kyiv regional police reported on Telegram.
According to the police, it was established that "the offender offered men to marry persons with disabilities in order to facilitate the illegal transportation of fugitives across the state border of Ukraine.
The woman, as indicated, offered her services for a monetary reward via the Telegram channel.
"After the marriage was registered, law enforcement officers detained the suspect and placed her in a temporary detention center while she was receiving an illegal cash reward of $5,000. The physical evidence was seized," the police said.
The offenders were served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 Article 332 of the Criminal Code. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. She faces up to nine years in prison.
