Independent UN experts have expressed growing international concern about the vulnerability of Ukraine's nuclear facilities, which depend on the stability of the energy system, according to a statement by Energoatom published on December 4, reports UNN.

It is noted that the Russian Federation purposefully hit energy facilities. The UN said the timing of the attacks raises additional concerns as Ukraine approaches the coldest time of the year, when electricity demand is rising sharply.
The recent shelling occurred despite warnings from 13 UN Special Rapporteurs and working groups that held official talks with Moscow in October this year to ban such attacks.
The experts also recalled cases when Russian troops subjected the personnel of Zaporizhia NPP to "intimidation, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and torture.
In its latest report, the IAEA said that nuclear and radiation safety at Zaporizhia NPP "remains under threat" due to the fact that the facility twice lost communication with a single 750 KV power line within a few days.
